I was hiking a very rocky area about 4 months back & stopped to take a rest on a boulder. I heard something rustle in the leaves below me so I looked down and there is this lizard poking his body out from under the boulder. The great part about it is that I never even knew lizards existed in Pa. It didn't even seem scared of me. It was observing me as if it had never seen a human before. The blue on its tail was beautiful.

If you search the database records a few of us do have lizard records for PA. It must have been a pretty cooled down lizard you observed because most skinks are a blur when they see even your shadow pass over them. Good find!

Spoiled by the pine barrens of NJ where there are skinks and fence lizards everywhere... I personally have only seen 2 skinks in PA. Though I admit I dont target most of them. One goal I did not accomplish this year was finding a coal skink.

Yeh, them little buggers are pretty quick, I have a hard time just getting the camera up to take a pic. If they see movement, there gone. But they definatly are cool!
