I don't know if others picked up on this story this weekend but apparently Chrous frogs are hitching a ride to Alaska in Christmas Trees. Alaskan wildlife officials fear of the potential for disease transmission and Invasive species establishment and are recommending that anyone finding these kill them (numerous methods outlined in the article), keep them for life or call a number and hopefully get them reestablished somewhere alive.

What did strike me about these articles is the total lack of accountability attributed to the HUMAN practices that created this potential situation. Seriously is there really a need to import christmas trees to Alaska? Not really surprised by this just saddened...

I guess they are afraid the chorus frogs may eat all of their mosquitoes.

Alaska brings in Christmas trees!!! I cant believe they (frogs) would survive and thrive in an environment like that.
