Remember, just because the calendar says fall doesnt mean ya can't get out there!
When southerly rains move in, the amphibians start showing up. Temps ranged from 54 to 60 last night (11-19) so I seized the moment to survey an area that I've only been visiting for a few years. So far, the area has produced the most diverse cross section of herps in Bucks County for me thus far. A few others on here can attest to that.
I road cruised the following last night.
    1 greenfrog, and 1 dor
    1 yoy pickeral frog
    2 Gray Treefrogs
1 Northern Dusky Salamander in the middle of the road.???
1 Spotted Salamander crossing where I thought they might.

Only one problem, I forgot my fricken camera! Had to use my cell phone.

  2. Great. Seems I have little time. Only time I got out was last Sat. and did get a few Duskys, Ravines, and an American Toad.

Though, not right around the corner, this spot has become my favorite in Bucks County. This was only my second time cruising the area at night. I have I'd some possible vernal areas that I will be invesitigating in the spring/late winter. I had found a spotted sal here a few years ago but could not find the vernal. The one found last night will help narrowing my search next year.
So far this are has produced:
    Racers
    milksnakes
    copperheads
    brownsnake
    gartersnakes
    ringneck
    Spotted sals
    dusky sals
    longtailed sal
    redbacks
    twolined
    box turtles
    wood frogs
    greenfrogs
    bullfrogs
    pickeral frogs
    gray treefrogs
    and counting....
