Whats the latest into the winter that anyone has found a snake. I found a garter last Dec 15th but the first half of last winter was pretty mild.

    Anyone got any good ones?

Mine was a queen snake in mid October for PA. SC got a ringneck in January.

Ive seen garters in november on mild days but the best had to be a YOY timber that surfaced in carbon county on a wierd 70 degree day January 1st, 2007! Biologists looking for Allegheny woodrat habitat found the confused little snake.

On a warm sunny day in late november a couple yrs ago, i seen a black rat snake layin on a main road aside of an old barn. Was just a reminder that I had the whole winter to go till I could go after snakes again!

A timber in winter would be sweet. A park ranger in WV told me once they see them out till the end of Nov.

I have better luck with frogs and sallys in winter, usually do not even have snakes on my mind by then. :)
