I am severely limited in my herping these days... I coach soccer and have a kidney stone problem.
So when my wife and I went away by ourselves, I wasn't disappointed that the weather wasn't the greatest.
I did however manage to flip this little garter.

and this nice little redbellied snake.

That was the extent of my flipping... I pee blood when I do too much... ( tmi?)

I was able to check a timber birthing area where a female had been hanging.
Missed the birth by a couple of weeks, but the kids left these behind.

Counted 8 sheds total. This female is the same one that we believe had at least 12 last year so I was surprised that
she was gravid again. We will see what happens with her next year.

While riding a dirt road on the side of a mountain I whizzed past a turtle I thought was a box turtle. Would have been a
slight range extension. But, it turned out to be this lowly male wood turtle... far from any discernible water source 58 degrees with a cold light rain falling.

Two road cruised wood turtles in a year is a record for me...

Good to see you got in some herping even with the limited time and medical problems. Really liked the sheds for the baby timbers.

Those neo sheds are sweet!!! That would definatly be surprising if that was the same female that birthed there last year. If thats the case, we need more females like that!

I was surprised as well... two of three animals returned to this gestation area from last year. I am 98% sure this is the same female from last year.
